Little Change...

Over my last few photography sessions, I have been concentrating on the Black Headed Gulls as they are the most abundant and easy to snap, so this time when I went down decided to concentrate on a few of the others feeding down there...

Bit to bright for Britain...

Went out last week to see the Ring-necked Parakeets that had taken up residence in Lytham cemetery, it was a bit foggy but I have never seen these birds before and was quite strange to see them in the wild but equally wonderful... 8 were present today but there have been up to 11....

A close call...

While out in southport this weekend, I saw this perched Kestrel, slowly making my way towards , it got spooked and flew straight in front of an on coming car... it was very close, I am very happy with this picture and I would go as far to say it is my fav. that I have taken upto date, although I am lucky that the bird flew towards me, they usually fly off in the opposite direction and out of sight... I hope that you like it...

Another Waxwing...

As I headed out this morning, I noticed a flock of 5 Waxwings at the end of my road, very happy with this as I need it for a year tick I thought that the day was off to a good start, as we retured home at the end of the day we noticed that the flock had grown to 21 birds in the same tree comming down to feed regularly, we ran across with the camera and waited for no more that 2min before they came down to within 6 feet for us to feed and then flew off into the evening sky never to be seen again, I'm convinced that they were waiting for us...

Hero...

As I was walking back after the high tide, I saw this cracking Sea Trout/Salmon not to sure which(and I call my self a fisherman :P) struggling after getting stranded in the puddle that you see it in, luckily no gulls had got to it and it hadn't sufferance yet, so up to my ankles in mud I walked out and released it into river were it hung around for a second and then happily swam off, a great end to the day :)

Photobucket

Unfortunatly just after posting this picture on facebook, I found out that it was a Sea Trout and they've just finished spawing, so it was soon to die anyway but I like to think that ever moment in life is special and I might have given it a few more...

Time Lapse 2... Melting Ice...

After my first attempt, I decided to have another go at the time lapse lark, unfortunatly I have misplaced my remote, so I had to press the shutter button by hand causing a number of the shots to blur but you get the idea, they'll get better I promise...

More Gulls...

I am a very big fan of gulls, very photogenic and very interesting but once you get into identifying them, especially the rarer more unusual species it is a mind field of confusion and probable mistakes, so with the sun making a few appearances this week, I decided to make the most of it and go take a few more snaps...

A New Little Friend...

Since I came back from Christmas, we've had a squirrel stopping by to have a feed on our table, taking nuts and burying them near by, it never fails to make me smile when I draw back the curtains and see him/her there... not to sure were he came from, were surround my main roads but he/she come back every day :) even though I live in uni accommodation I still like to do my part ...

Swans...

This isn't the best shot in the world by a very very long way but I though that it showed a good comparison between our two wintering swan species...
